As a popular and influential member of the telecoms industry with a special interest in peering, Steve Wilcox was invited to take part in the panel discussion, titled “MENOG Peering Forum 2 – Peering Operators Panel”.
The panel discussed that since the last MENOG (MENOG 13, September 2013) there has been significant growth in the Middle East Internet Exchanges, like PIX (the Palestine Internet Exchange Point) and UAE-IX in Dubai. However even with the popularity of IXPs growing and the concept of peering taking off, the panel also addressed that there are still many issues to be solved, and how these could be overcome.
On the panel, L-R: Marco Brandstaetter (UAE-IX), Christian Kaufmann (Akamai), Steve Wilcox (IX Reach), Saleh Mansour (Palestine IX) and Haitham El-Nakhal (NTRA and Cairo IX).
