Exciting, educational and exhausting – three words to describe EPF9!
For the first time in its history, IX Reach sponsored the European Peering Forum (EPF) which took place in the beautiful coastal town of Split, Croatia, during late September. Promoting peering, and especially remote peering, has always been of high importance to IX Reach – it’s why we formed as a company in the beginning! (Learn more about our company history here!) Steve Wilcox, Ruth Plater, Rebecca Stanić, and Elaine Dixon attended the event which was packed with meetings, talks, presentations and perhaps one or two socials! Job Witteman from AMS-IX delivered the opening speech of EPF9 to a very busy conference hall! EPF9 was actually the most registered-for forum.
As sponsors, IX Reach had a display table where we proudly displayed a very green and grey banner highlighting that not only are we the global number one IXP reseller, but we also provide DWDM connectivity - a relatively new service offered by IX Reach. This year as our special giveaway, we had a super useful multitool device which along with the obligatory bottle opener also had screwdriver heads and wrenches - everything a network engineer may require in some urgent data centre work!
The social on Monday night was held at the very impressive Mediteranium. Built within a pine forest on a bluff above the ocean, the location could not have been more breath taking. The outdoor area was filled with big relaxing sofas, and whilst networking, delegates could enjoy a beautiful sunset across the water.
The view from the Champagne bar in the Le Meridien Lav across the harbour was beautiful - it's clear to see why this was such a major meeting point for attendees of EPF9.

Tuesday night's fantastic social took place aboard a boat which cruised along the Croatian coast whilst delegates mingled with sparkling wine before sitting down to a gorgeous three course meal. Thank you to everyone who attended EPF9 - IX Reach has always enjoyed attending peering forums, but it was great to be a more integral part of the event by sponsoring it.
